Alongside a 60-second TV spot, Nike has launched an inspirational campaign that puts fans into the locker room of the Turkish football team through an immersive 360 VR film. The VR piece centres around the Turkish national team and their captain Arda Turan who gives an impassioned half time speech that you witness in 360 degrees. The film uses binaural audio, which further strengthens the immersive experience.
Launched during this week’s Turkey vs. Austria match, the ‘Spark Brilliance’ campaign aims to inspire young players in Turkey and all over Europe.
VFX Supervisor Adam Grint comments; “It’s the only place you’re not allowed to go. What is said in the changing room at half time is not for the ears of the outside world. So to bear witness to that half time speech, to allow us behind those closed doors was a strong idea from the outset. And what better way to make you feel like you’re really part of that intimate moment than to experience it in 360 degrees, as if you are witnessing it through your own eyes?
It was a great experience making the film - we worked to harness the strengths of working in 360 alongside the creatives from W&K and Bob Harlow from Somesuch. We had to allow as much freedom as possible in terms of movement of the players and lighting of the scene, whilst remaining within the technical limitations of shooting in 360. It was a pretty quick turnaround, so many thanks to the team for creating something special in this evolving new medium.”
