Filmed in a disused music venue, this new promo for Kodaline, directed by Mathy & Fran, opens on a lonely, yet romantic visual of lead singer Steve Garrigan standing in an empty room that has previously been the site of a huge party. He walks through the abandoned building seeing the carnage the event the night before has left behind; empty bottles, smashed glass, broken chairs. The aim of the video is to display how transformative music spaces can be, and as the band kicks in, the venue is re-awoken and comes alive in a rich euphoric scene of the band's performance before a large crowd.
Mathy & Fran commented, "We've always been fascinated with the idea of music venues as lonely places when they're not being used and the magic that happens within them. There's a real transformative process and that's what we wanted to capture in this video."
Mill colourist Matt Osborne graded the film and says of it, "It was fantastic to work with Mathy and Fran on this Kodaline promo. We paid paticular attention to the natural skin tones and a contrast level to complement the 2:35 crop."
