The Mill then breathed life into the animatronic model of a duck. For one scene the duck was shot static and later manipulated in Flame to look as if it was leaning against a lamppost. To make its actions look more realistic its feathers were moved, its wings warped and a CG webbed-foot added for extra dynamism. In later shots, the duck's beak was augmented to sync with the voiceover quacking, 'Aflac'.

Two separate plates of a live-action duck were combined to give the duck a 'kick', and to create a more characterful reaction its head and neck were replaced with CG animation. All shadows and the duck in the last shot were created in 3D.
