In this spot we follow our protagonist as he steps into his home to discover that it has been taken over by soldiers, angels, dancers, fairies and even a giant. The different worlds of video games and movies that his family are experiencing have come to life and he finds himself more than a little overwhelmed. Thus he takes his wifi box, and moves it into another room so he can have some peace while his family continue to enjoy their various entertainments in their own spaces.
2D Lead Artist Ben Turner explains ‘From a VFX point of view it’s always a pleasure to work on something that already looks so epic. We used the a methodology to shoot the scale shots with some additional CG planes that Fredrik felt would add another dimension to the piece, and naturally he was right.
Fredrik jumped on an interactive session with us from our LA office so that he could react quickly to our first animation tests, and this really helped the process move smoothly.
We were using a new Baselight grade plug in on flame with our linear pipeline, which not only means that the grader has complete control of the look from start to finish, but that it really loops us all into the creative process together.
I was able to render a comp and immediately show it to a client with the latest Grade from Dave. This means when the clients really want to push a certain aspect of the image, we could ensure through both comp and grade that this was done in the most sympathetic way to maintain the integrity of the image. The Baselight to flame plug in has proven not only to be a great time saver, but has also really integrated colour and comp in a way that was never possible before.’
