Mill+ joined forces with Cartier Middle East to create a unique regional campaign inspired by the role of tradition, history and modernity shared by the Gulf Region and Maison Cartier.
Giver of Pearls, the second film in the Pursuit of Magnificence trilogy, provides a narrative specific to Cartier's search for pearls. The team, led by The Mill’s Executive Creative Director Ben Smith and Creative Director Kinda Akash, crafted this elegant liquid gold journey in CGI to embody the local oral traditions and narrative structures in the Middle East. Akash comments "One very evocative mention of pearls in Arab and Persian mythologies is that pearls are formed when raindrops are filled with moonlight, then fall into the sea to be swallowed by oysters. It’s such a beautiful image and became the foundation of our visual narrative and script – a journey following one such drop from the moon, down into the depths of the sea for Cartier and local pearl divers to explore."
