Working closely with Director Saam Farahmand out of Black Sheep Studios, The Mill helped to create this latest promo for Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger’s solo album, entitled ‘England Lost’.
The nostalgic piece is set in an England of times gone by and has been graded by Mill Head of Colour Seamus O’Kane in a classic monochromatic style. It features a lead male protagonist as he appears to be running away from a suspicious character who is stalking him through various towns and streets before reaching the sea.
The narrative is at times unsettling, a nod to the lyrics of the song which comment on the current, somewhat turbulent nature of contemporary politics.
Mill Head of Colour Seamus O’Kane explains, "This beautiful film almost dictated its own look in that it evoked an immediate feeling of the classic.
From the rich textural depth to the elegant camera angles, the refinement to detail and process effortlessly defines characters, mood and narrative.
The colour design serves only to unite these elements and add a veneer of monochrome cinematic intensity.
DOP Steve Annis supplied a rock solid base to work upon and Director Saam Farahmand allowed me to explore the photography across the tonal ranges. The result is a beautiful film that is symbiotic to both the legendary artist and his roots."
