Opening with a poignant cut of news footage from the historic launch of Apollo 11, the shot plays with a cinematic finish, casting viewers straight into the realm of nostalgia. 

As it develops it moves between a recent interview with spaceman Buzz Aldrin and footage of him from the Apollo 11 launch, all while discussing one of the first news pieces to come in from Earth when he was first in orbit – which sees an Irish man broken the world record for eating the most amount of instant porridge oats. 

The spot also continues to go back and forth between old news shots which are then offset with clean and crisp shots of Aldrin in a present day interview. The contrast makes for a really enjoyable watch, and the building music and ‘never give up’ moral behind the piece results in an entirely uplifting short. 

2D Lead Artist, Zoe Cosh says; “It was both exciting and fascinating working on all the different types of footage of that era. Although they we all very different we had to somehow make them feel like they were part of one piece of work. We recreated the Apollo 11 spacecraft in CGI and comp'd it in Flame in order to give us a view that would not have been possible to capture at the time."
