Artists at The Mill collaborated with Director Dave Laden of Hungry Man to create a campaign for Google Duo, using 2D animation and a hand-drawn style to bring out the personalities of 10 unique, lovable characters.
The Mill’s Animation Director, Lisha Tan, led the VFX & Design team in creating a total of five spots. To help differentiate each character, it was all in the small details. The campaign relied on simplistic looks to capture the fun and sincere elements of the pieces. The Mill’s Colour team also emphasized soft tones to maintain naturalness throughout. Lisha explains, “For each character, we created a pose sheet to give the agency a general idea of what they’d look like. With the Toothpaste character, we had him working out and flexing.”
