Mill+ recently collaborated with the team behind New York’s famous Hudson Yards development to create a grand reveal film of the highly anticipated architectural center piece.
‘The Vessel’, designed by British Architect Thomas Heatherwick will sit in the public square and gardens as a new public landmark. Taking inspiration from Indian step wells, the 150ft structure will comprise of 145 interconnecting flights of stairs.
The Vessel reveal film, directed by The Mill’s Adam Carboni and Tom Basis, is a tribute to New York City life, taking inspiration from the pace of New Yorkers' daily commutes. Starring New York based dance troupe Alvin Ailey, the film brings early morning commuters together in the shadow of the iconic Vessel structure.
Tom comments, "The feeling of excitement and creativity in the Vessel itself is what inspired us to visualize this narrative in an energetic way.” Adam adds " The film we made is meant to not only announce this iconic Vessel, but to create excitement and some mystery about its design and the emotion it will bring to the city."
