The ad sees red, blue and white ticker tape exploding out of chimneys, letter boxes and falling onto the heads of happy customers who’ve managed to purchase their dream sofa in the DFS Summer Sale. The patriotic colour of the tape reflects the brand’s allegiance and sponsorship of Team GB on the approach of this year’s Olympic Games in Rio.

The Mill’s Shoot Supervisor on the job Elizabeth Mitchell comments; "The Director was able to shoot most of the ticker tape moments in camera so our job was to replicate the effect for the outside chimney and balcony shots and to enhance a few of the inside shots. We created the setup using Particles in Maya, and rendered using Arnold. The live action ticker tape was shot at 200 fps, so we made sure to simulate our effects over a slower frame rate for minimal motion blur.

For the wide aeriel shot, we really enhanced the speed and size of the ticker explosions, to make sure they created a stunning and impressive effect against the backdrop.”
