Mill+ Director Paul Mitchell collaborated with Crispin Porter + Bogusky to create ’Staying Connected’, part of American Airlines’ newest commercial campaign and rebrand debut.

The ad sees a smooth transition from the glistening sea to the airline’s first-class premium seats, highlighting the intricate textures built by Mill artists. The team also worked to creatively integrate the new American Airlines logo throughout.
Paul explains, “As a completely computer generated spot, we into ways to best approach the visual connection between the interior and exterior shots. We open with the American Airlines shadow, tracking its journey as it moves across the ocean, which quickly but seamlessly transitions into the leather of the first-class seat. We then set the mood of the film with late-afternoon sunlight, allowing for a warm, inviting tone. This also gave us the opportunity to use long shadows to help shape the environment.”
He adds, “Overall, it was a very strong collaboration amongst the team who worked cohesively to get the job done whilst maintaining every detail.”
