Following B&Q’s first ‘Let’s Create’ spot with Fred the Zebra, The Mill helped produce ‘Koala’ and ‘Beaver;’ both featuring augmented photo-real animal characters. This time, we meet Karl and Lily the koalas who have just moved over from Australia, and Claire and Billy the beavers who “like to keep busy”.  Both spots focus on home improvement projects and provide examples of how B&Q has helped these, albeit slightly unusual customers, unlock their creativity.

To ensure the believability and characterisation, the Mill’s VFX team worked from the live action references of real performers delivering their lines on set wearing prosthetic model heads, created by Millennium FX.

Dom & Nic directed each character on set to define each of the animal’s personalities, which the team of animators then brought to life as CG head replacements.
