VFX Supervisor Becky Porter comments, “We shot on location and therefore did not have the liberty to drive a tank through the wall, or set off high explosives. This meant most of the destructive fun came into the world of post. We used shot elements, CG and matte painting to create explosions and enhance the general devastation.”
3D artists helped fine-tune the destructive effect throughout the scene by adding small yet powerful details after simulating elements such as shattered pieces of rubble. 3D artists Berk Hakguder and Charles Storniolo explain, “After we simulated the pieces, we were able to use the impact data to add fine particles for dust and fine debris. This helped sell the scale and realism of the simulation.”
