The Mill’s VFX team, lead by 2D Artist Greg Spencer, removed the puppeteer’s rigs, strings and wires in Flame as well as augmenting the puppets’ performance by developing their facial expressions, before colourist Jim Bracher added a pop of colour in the grade.
 
Greg Spencer comments, “The look of this film revolves around two contrasting universes which compliment each other perfectly; the dull, grey interiors of the office and the fairytale exterior, which was shot on green screen to allow for a seamless integration with the puppets. We then composited light rays, frogs, birds and as many fairy tale elements as we could possible think of into the backgrounds to make it as interesting and unworldly as we possibly could.”
