‘Real Madrid' sees a bunch of young boys from both Madrid and Abu Dhabi come together having received invites to join a host of  Real Madrid stars and battle it out at the Bernabeu Stadium. What ensues shows that football truly is a universal sport that unites players from all walks of life.

Filmed on handheld cameras and old uncoated lenses, the spot was then further brought to life by the numerous VFX shots needed. Involving a highly experienced team of Mill 2D and 3D artists who rose to the challenge of re-creating the Bernabeu Stadium complete with crowds of fans from scratch in CG.

All this was then pieced together by a team of compositors who worked on a number of key shots featuring such famous footballers as Gareth Bale, Iker Casillas and Christiano Ronaldo all captured during a tight two and a half hour studio filmed shoot.

Director Cadmo Quintero explains what he found so fascinating about the project, “We had to bring very different components together in one commercial. There was the story of the Arabian boy, and kids playing and enjoying football in Abu Dhabi as well as those in Madrid. Furthermore, the international flavour and celebrity appearances make the advert incredibly inspiring for football fans all over the world.”
 
3D Lead Artist, Adam Droy comments, "This project was fascinating because we had to bring so many very different components together in one commercial. IPIC was a great opportunity for us to build on our highly experienced and proven stadium setup. Creating such an iconic football stadium such as the Bernabeu from scratch meant we we needed to focus on all aspects of the stadium, giving us the freedom to then create the best composition possible for each shot. We put a lot of energy into improving the realism of our crowds, revamping our evolved system for motion-captured animation as well as totally rethinking the way we rendered them.”
