When Prettybird and legendary music video and commercial director Paul Hunter approached us about the spot ‘Worlds Collide’ for the release of Activision’s DJ Hero, it was music to our ears and we couldn’t wait to show off our DJ skills – oh, and our VFX skills, of course...

Made by the makers of Guitar Hero, the game allows wannabe DJs to mix and scratch their way through a multitude of music genres using a custom turntable controller. Starring hip-hop icons Eminem and Jay-Z, the ad features a host of visual effects used to demonstrate the mixing of two tracks by the gamer.
We were talking with director Paul Hunter from very early on in the creative process to help develop the commercial's overall style and generated a previz animation that allowed him to plan out shots prior to filming. As the shoot took place in both LA and New York, our friends from the Mill's NY office were on hand to attend the shoot on the East Coast ensuring things went off without a 'scratch'.
