McBess & Simon cultivated the idea that by using a continuous stream of chalk drawing they could skilfully tie together Essar's different offerings into one charming spot, injecting the brand with its own unique personality. They not only directed the ad, but McBess himself starred in it and wrote and performed the music. The result is a joy to watch and all in a day's work for this talented duo.

Simon tells us, "We were really inspired when we received the script!  We instantly knew it would be a great opportunity to craft an engaging and creative piece of animation."

"We especially enjoyed the live action set and collaboration with everyone on the shoot; it was a real team effort and lots of fun (and hard work).  Ogilvy Mumbai was so open to our ideas we felt completely unrestricted and were able to explore and work with different media.  We are very grateful to everyone we worked with on Essar, a really great experience. Our Colourist Aubrey, who put the finishing touches to the film adds, "I used contemporary tones; different pastels to bring out a colourful grade that was full of life to compliment the animation's story. The end result is warm and inviting, a perfect match to McBess and Simon's work."
