Directed by Mill+ art director Douglas Bowden, this visually dynamic piece explores a young director's vision and unique way of seeing things. The sequence navigates through abstract interpretations of the delicate process that takes place in the eye of a creative mind!
Refraction plays a key role in the piece and the Mill+ team bent and warped the creative world in the protagonist's eye. They created a refracting sculpture, which elegantly deforms each object that passes behind it. This experimental technique adds an extra layer of complexity and abstraction, as well as emphasizing the inherent qualities of light in the sequence.
Douglas comments, "To bring this piece to life we used a combination of Cinema4D, V-Ray and After Effects. In order to achieve this look, we decided to use V-Ray for all lighting and texturing. We used a 3D solution in the end, enabling us full control over the work flow of the project. He adds: "We're extremely proud of the final result!"
Executive producer, Luke Colson comments: "It's a pleasure to be so closely affiliated with such a prestigious award and we always relish taking on the creative and rewarding task of producing the title sequence each year. The winning work is outstanding year after year, which means we our titles must always stand up against the quality of the work entered in to the show! The team as always, has really delivered a powerful and beautiful sequence, which was fantastic to see up on the big screens at the YDA ceremony."
