After 23 years of silence, rock legends The Pixies long-awaited full album which launches later this month, titled 'Indie Cindy', has been preceded by this music video for the single 'Snakes'. It features a "band" of papier-mâché-masked individuals clutching duffle bags who begin their urban chase surrounded by the city scapes and deserted car parks, and end their escape in a desert-based showdown.
John Thornton, Joint Head of Smoke at The Mill comments, "Mark and I have been working on projects together for many years now and when he called up to ask advice for his Pixies treatment, I knew it would be good. It was a tight turn around during Christmas and New year and in fact Mark was still editing as we were doing post. I think in all we worked on maybe 70 shots. We had a strong team at the mill pulling out all the stops to finesse a well shot film. All in all a great result."
Matthew Osborne, colourist at The Mill comments, "It was great fun to grade this Pixies promo for Mark Locke. I knew it was one of his favorite bands and you can see it through the amount of enthusiasm and passion that gone into this piece. There was a really tight deadline for for the promo to be delivered, so we spent our time matching the different camera formats and making the story flow. We gave it a 70's cop chase look with a hint of Breaking Bad."
