When Mike visits his brother Peter at work in Toronto, Peter sets the record straight: Sears Canada isn't going anywhere. In fact, the brand is better than ever. The spot was the result of close collaboration between Hungry Man and The Mill with the exception of the script, which was written by Mike himself. Senior colorist Dave Ludlam spoke to us about the brief for the spot's bright, colorful grade.
Ludlam comments: "The reference was to give it a 'Catch Me If You Can'-style look, but we drew it back a bit to give it that commercial Sears look at the same time, maintaining that upbeat, comedic, fun feel of the advert. We didn't work with an agency, so I worked very closely with Bryan to get that filmic look just right."
Peter is an actual longtime employee of the franchise. Mike's spur-of-the-moment tagline, '#MyBrotherWorksAtSears', is part of the brand's internet campaign to encourage those who know anyone in the Sears family to share the news.
