Pepsi - Now Is What You Make It
180LA's 'Now Is What You Make It' for Pepsi is a star-studded backstreet kick-about.
Directed by Johan Renck of Reset, it follows the young YouTube musician Stony playing music through the streets of Rio de Janeiro whilst casually interacting with some of the biggest names in the game. Set to the tune of David Bowie's 'We Can Be Heroes' (sung by a busking Janelle Monáe), it stars Lionel Messi, Jack Wilshere and Robin van Persie to name a few.
Alongside pushing the carnival atmosphere to its full potential with color, confetti and murals, The Mill had the challenge of getting all these top players in one city - no easy feat!

Chris Knight, 2D lead artist, told us about the project: "The cast for this Pepsi ad is full of big-time players and getting all of them in one city to shoot on the same day would be impossible - so it was our job to make it happen! We composited players in where they had originally been shot on green screen or in other locations with replica sets, adding texture and detail where necessary to create a seamless match. We also created a CG football and confetti; added smoke effects and people to the crowd in the end scene to boost the carnival element and composited the custom designed murals on the walls throughout."
Inspired by 'the power and unity that sports and music bring to the world', the latest Pepsi spot is an upbeat mix showing Rio at its most vibrant.
