Working with BBDO NY and DGA-winning director and ideas man Peter Thwaites, The Mill animated giant cut-outs of drawings and introduced them into a cityscape. It brings the place alive, as our VFX Supervisor/CD Angus Kneale says, "It was incredibly important to use the actual medium of crayon and paper. The charm and authenticity of physical media provided a lot of character, which was exactly what Peter wanted."

Extensive research provided invaluable reference for our animators. "Full-size paper models of some characters were made and dropped from cranes," says Angus. "We made paper clouds, and actually studied the properties of how paper reacts as it falls. Even a full-size paper train was made and rigged to crumple into a wall."
